In a decisive move to strengthen fire safety compliance and enhance national resilience, the Controller General, Federal Fire Service (FFS), Olumode Adeyemi Samuel, FCNA, ACTI, today inaugurated the Special Task Force on Public and Private Building Audit at the Service Headquarters, Abuja.
The event, themed "Strengthening Fire Safety Compliance in Public Buildings: A Call to Action for National Resilience," underscores the renewed commitment of the Federal Fire Service to proactive fire risk management and the prevention of avoidable disasters.
In his address, the Controller General noted that the increasing frequency of fire incidents across major cities such as the recent Afritower fire in Lagos and the Abuja plaza fires underscores the urgent need for stricter enforcement of fire safety standards in public and commercial buildings.
He stated that the newly inaugurated Task Force has been mandated to:
1. Map public buildings nationwide and classify their respective fire risk levels;
2. Inspect facilities to determine their level of compliance with fire safety regulations; and
3. Provide comprehensive recommendations to guide enforcement actions and policy decisions.
Controller General Adeyemi reaffirmed the Service’s unwavering commitment to protecting lives, property, and critical national assets, emphasizing that "fire safety is not a choice but a shared responsibility."
The Task Force, chaired by Assistant Controller General Bolarinde Tajudeen Muhammed, Head of the Inspection, Investigation, and Enforcement (I.I.E.) Department, comprises senior officers including the Deputy Controller of Operations (FCT Command), Provost Marshal, National Public Relations Officer, and the Legal Director as Secretariat.
Declaring the Task Force inaugurated, the Controller General charged members to carry out their assignment with professionalism, integrity, and full dedication to the Service’s mandate of safeguarding public and private spaces.
He further urged owners and managers of public, private, and high-rise buildings to extend maximum cooperation to the Task Force during the audit exercise.

FEDERAL MINISTRY OF EDUCATION
FG LAUNCHES 2025–2027 COMMUNICATION STRATEGY, HIGHLIGHTS EDUCATION ACHIEVEMENTS
30th September, 2025
The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Education (FME), has launched the 2025–2027 Communication Strategy and Framework to boost policy engagement, transparency, and public trust. The three-year plan, unveiled in Abuja, provides a blueprint for communicating Nigeria’s education reforms with clarity and consistency.
The Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, described communication as central to reform and accountability. He said the strategy will ensure policies and achievements under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are effectively conveyed. Highlighting progress, he cited the expansion of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) with 960,000 applications on the new platform and 58,000 students matched to centres. He announced free tuition, boarding, and stipends for federal and selected state technical colleges from 2025/2026. On basic education, 4,900 new classrooms were built, 3,000 renovated, and 353,000 furniture supplied, benefiting 2.3 million learners, while 35,000 out-of-school children were reintegrated. He also disclosed that the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, mobilised over N21 billion for the National Library project.
Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sai’d Ahmad, said the strategy, supported by PLANE and UK International Development, will deepen engagement with stakeholders and strengthen feedback. Other officials, including the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Obianiuju Anigbogu (representing Mr. Abel Eniitan), and partners pledged full alignment, stressing that communication fosters accountability, coherence, and inclusiveness.
The launch marks a new phase in Nigeria’s education reforms where achievements are both implemented and effectively communicated.
